The Jackson Grant neighborhood started as a parcel of land signed over by President Jackson over 180 years ago.

As you look around Carmel for a place to call home, you have your pick of charming neighborhoods full of character. However, no other community in Carmel has a storied history as when you build in Jackson’s Grant.  Starting as a parcel of land signed over by President Jackson over 180 years ago, Jackson’ Grant has become a truly one-of-a-kind neighborhood that blends its unique past with today’s amenities.

Be Part of History When You Build in Jackson’s Grant

From the founding of our country, our Presidents have signed land grants to help settlers find their way westward.

One of the grants in 1834 was gifted to a private owner in what is now Carmel, Indiana.  Given that Andrew Jackson was the last US President to personally sign land grants, this stretch of acreage holds a rather unique place in Indiana history.

The area featured rolling pastures dotted with woodlands and watered by Williams Creek. For decades, the land was passed down through the family, each of whom preserved it in its original condition. Even as Carmel transformed from farmland to a desirable suburb of Indianapolis, Jackson’s Grant remained a large horse farm, largely untouched.

Now, as Jackson’s Grant is being developed with neighborhoods, the natural beauty of the land is preserved. While the area may no longer offer fox hunts or riding expeditions, homeowners can still experience the same landscape as 1834. The large, native trees still shade the neighborhood streets.  Soft, rolling hills help you imagine the serenity of the pastures.

Jackson’s Grant neighborhood contains many native trees that shade the neighborhood streets.

Each Jackson Grant Neighborhood Has Its Own Personality

Even though Jackson’s Grant now serves houses with modern amenities, history is still held in reverence.

To honor its rich equestrian past, many of the streets are named after horses.  The Williams Creek nature preserve and natural rain gardens help preserve the natural beauty, as does the 13-acre Flatwoods Arboretum.

Each neighborhood within Jackson’s Grant also tries to take its personality from history. For instance, the Stableside neighborhood is more socially centered, as it sits where the busy riding centers used to function.  Here, all roads overlook the William’s Creek Nature Preserve.  The beautiful custom-homes in Stableside function like a cozy village, where the chores like lawn care and snow shoveling are taken care of, so you can enjoy the close-by amenities more.

In anthesis, the Northvale neighborhood provides the seclusion of urban woodlands.  These larger estates are custom-designed to complement the natural surroundings and are envisioned to utilize comfortable outdoor living spaces — especially those that back up to William’s Creek.  The private wooded lots can be a blessing, as it gives a bit of the serenity of 1800’s to balance the commotion of Carmel and Indianapolis.

Each neighborhood within Jackson Grant takes its personality from the history of the land.
